Gait & Balance Physiotherapy

Gait & Balance physiotherapy offers services for adults experiencing neurological conditions. Community members benefit from access to advanced gait training technology, including a body-weight support treadmill and the ZeroG Overground Walking System, which make it possible to practice walking, balance, and functional movements safely and confidently in ways that cannot be achieved in a traditional overground setting. Our physiotherapists provide guided treatment based on each client’s medical history, fitness, and goals to ensure each session is individualized.

Although a referral form is not necessary to participate in Gait & Balance physiotherapy, it is helpful to have information about diagnosis, reason for referral, and mobility limitations ahead of the assessment.

Physiotherapy Treatment

Our physiotherapists can address a range of orthopedic concerns including pain, arthritis, new or chronic musculoskeletal injuries, pre-habilitation to prepare for joint replacement surgery, rehabilitation following surgery, and specific return to activity goals.

Exercise Consultation

Our physiotherapists offer customized exercise consultation and prescription, which is ideal for community members who live at a distance from McMaster. Following an assessment and consultation with our physiotherapist, community members can take their new exercise program ‘to go’.

ARISE Learn more

PACE has partnered with Neuro-Mod, a McMaster University-based health technology company, to offer ARISE (Augmented Reality Integrated Sensorimotor Exercise), an innovative rehabilitation platform designed for individuals experiencing neck impairments, vestibular/ balance issues, or those looking to improve mobility and movement confidence.
