Exercise Study recruiting NOW!

The rapid increase in the aging population and the consequent surge in the incidence of neurodegenerative diseases underlie the urgent need to identify interventions that will help older adults maintain their cognitive and mental health. Our research aims to investigate the benefits provided by physical activity on cognition and mood, as well as the mechanisms that explain these benefits, in order to establish guidelines for the prescription of exercise for cognitive and mental health promotion in seniors.

Our study involves two visits, as well as an optional third visit, to McMaster University. The first visit involves a body composition assessment, as well as a physical activity questionnaire and a cognitive test. At the end of this visit, we will give you a pedometer to wear for 7 days to track your activity. At the second visit, we will collect a blood sample and you will complete another cognitive test, as well as physical activity and mood questionnaires. The third visit is optional and would involve cognitive and visual perception tasks. Each visit would take approximately 1 hour to complete.
