MacWheelers Exercise Program for Adults with Spinal Cord Injury

Overview

MacWheelers is an adapted exercise and wellness program, providing inclusive and accessible opportunities for those living with spinal cord injuries to engage in regular community fitness programming. We offer one-on-one assistance from student volunteers to assist participants in carrying out their exercise programs on our innovative adaptive equipment.

Please note that we are currently only accepting participants who have sustained a spinal cord injury (in addition to the standard medical clearance form) before joining.

 

Hours of Operation

Monday 1:00 pm - 3:30 pm

Tuesday 1:00 pm - 3:30 pm, 5:00 pm - 7:30 pm

Wednesday 1:00 pm - 3:30 pm

Thursday 1:00 pm - 3:30 pm, 5:00 pm - 7:30 pm

Friday CLOSED

 

Location

We are located on the first floor of the Ivor Wynne Centre, East Wing - in the McMaster Physical Activity Centre of Excellence, Room E104.

 

Program Fees

Initial Physiotherapy Assessment: $100 ($110 including parking)

Basic Membership: $55/month

Basic Membership includes two (2) drop-in exercise sessions per week, an individualized exercise program, and volunteer assistance. 

Modality Membership: $75/month

Modality Membership includes two (2) drop-in exercise sessions per week, one (1) session on our specialized modalities per month, an individualized exercise program, and volunteer assistance. 

Modality Packages: Additional sessions on our specialized modalities can be purchased through the PACE reception desk.

 

Parking: $20/month and $20 one-time fee for transponder (Fully accessible lots are located in front of the Ivor Wynne Centre)


Membership and parking fees are payable in installments of 6 or 12 months at a time. Methods of payment include: cash, cheque*, debit, and credit card (Visa, MC)

*Cheques can be postdated (for 6 or 12 month memberships) but they all have to be presented at once

Example: If you are signing up for a 6 month membership, 6 postdated cheques must be given at the initial sign up
